The U.S. Geology Survey will conduct low-level helicopter flights over parts of southern Colorado including Park County to map critical minerals using airborne geophysical technology, beginning in mid-July. The airborne survey will be conducted through Fall 2025, weather and wildfire restrictions permitting. In addition to Park, the flights will cover parts of Chaffee, Teller, Fremont, Custer, Pueblo, and Huerfano Counties. Flights may resume in Spring 2026 if needed.
