This July 4th is more than a holiday of celebration and familiar tunes—it is a rare turning of the calendar that invites us to look back with gratitude at the sacrifices\, struggles\, and achievements that shaped our country\, and forward with renewed commitment to the responsibilities we share as neighbors\, families\, and citizens.  \nAs members of the Indian Mountain community\, we know the value of coming together—of shared meals\, shared stories\, and shared pride in where we live—and this anniversary offers a meaningful chance to do just that in the spirit of unity that has carried the nation across centuries of challenge and change.  \nMore details to come in the following days. SUMMARY:Community Chipping 2026
DESCRIPTION:The 2026 Indian Mountain Chipping Week will take place from July 28th through August 8th. As part of our commitment to being a Firewise community\, we aim to do our part to eliminate dead wood and mitigate wildfire danger on our properties. We offer wood chipping to help eliminate fallen wood and minimize fire risks in Indian Mountain. \nTo do the wood chipping\, the requirements are: \n\nWood must be neatly stacked with the butt end of the trees facing the same direction.\nTrees must be less than 9″ in diameter.\nFelled trees will be stacked along the roadways for easy access.\nNo root balls\, construction materials\, treated wood\, nails\, screws\, or metal material.\nAll chippings will be broadcast back onto your property.\n\nIf you are interested in having your wood chipped this year\, please fill the RSVP form when it comes online. Wood piles should be ready by a day or two before July 28th. We will ask for pictures of your wood piles for chipping once we get closer to the deadline. \nThank you for your participation!

DESCRIPTION:Multiple large dumpsters are placed outside the Community Center. We ask that you please read the below requirements so we can make best use of the dumpster and provide the needed convenience for all of our neighbors. Use of dumpsters is for current IMPOA members. If you are not sure if you are an active member\, we can also check records during the event to determine your status. If you are not in our 2026 membership list\, you’ll need to pay the $45 annual dues before utilizing the dumpsters. \n\nNo hazardous chemicals\, wet paint\, oils\, automobile fluids\nNo electronics\nNo refrigerators/freezers with freon\nNo household kitchen waste/garbage\nNo yard waste (slash\, trees\, or limbs should go to the burn pit)\n\nLarge items like a couch\, or dresser\, might need to be broken down into small flat pieces. Bulky items take up considerable space in the dumpsters and we want to make sure we have room for everything. If it rains before or during our event\, the recommendation is to have your load covered and kept dry. DESCRIPTION:The Annual “Chili Cook-Off” on Saturday\, October 10th at 2:00pm sponsored by IMMD will be held at the IM Community Center. \nScoring Guidelines\n\nPresentation: Chile should appear appetizing and should reflect the ingredients used.\nSmell: Chili should have a pleasant aroma. The smell should also indicate what’s in store when you taste it.\nFlavor: Above all\, flavor is the most important factor. The flavor should consist of a combination of protein\, spices\, etc.\, with no ingredient being dominant.\nTexture: Chili must have a good ratio between sauce and protein. The ideal chili will have a thick consistency. It should NOT be dry\, watery\, grainy\, lumpy\, or greasy.\nOverall Impression: This can most easily be determined by the aftertaste of the chili and can be characterized as the balance created with the various spices and/or peppers. Your overall enjoyment of the chili!\n\nJudging Guidelines\n\nIf you have any food allergies\, please alert the cook!\nJudge each chili on its own merit – do not compare one chili to another\nUse a clean\, new mini spoon and mini bowl for each chili\nClear your palate between each chili – use water or saltines\nEach chili pot will be assigned a number – place your scores in the scoresheet column that corresponds to the chili being judged\nComplete your voting card and place it in ballot box!\n\n
